What affects the price
- Order size. A full truck is about 10 cubic yards; smaller orders pay a short-load fee of $40–$60 per yard (Angi) or $53 (HomeGuide), which can double the per-yard price of a small pour.
- Distance. HomeGuide includes delivery within 20 miles and adds $9.50 per mile beyond; Angi reports $5–$10 per mile past the base radius plus fuel surcharges of $20–$40 per load.
- Mix. Stronger mixes cost more per yard; color and stamping add $31–$108 per yard.
- Thickness. A 6 in slab takes 50% more concrete than a 4 in slab; HomeGuide's installed range climbs from $6–$8 per sq ft at 4 in to $8–$10 at 6 in.
- Labor and site. Labor is 40%–50% of an installed slab (HomeGuide); grading and site prep add $0.40–$2.00 per sq ft.
- Where you live. The ranges here are national. Material, delivery and labor rates vary by region and season, so get at least two local quotes for ready-mix and installation.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a yard of concrete cost in 2026?
Ready-mix concrete delivered costs about $110–$150 per cubic yard: HomeGuide lists $119–$147 with delivery within 20 miles, and Angi puts the national average at $130. Orders smaller than a full truck (about 10 yards) usually add a short-load fee of $40–$60 per yard.
How much is a bag of concrete?
On September 17, 2026 we found 80 lb bags of concrete mix from $5.99 to $11.99 (median $7.13) and 60 lb bags from $4.85 to $10.55. Home Depot listed QUIKRETE 80 lb at $6.47 and 60 lb at $4.85.
How much does a 10×10 concrete slab cost?
HomeGuide puts a 10 × 10 ft slab at $600–$1,200 installed. Doing it yourself, a 4 in slab with 10% extra takes 62 × 80 lb bags, about $371–$743 in concrete, or about 1.36 cubic yards of ready-mix — before forms, gravel base, reinforcement and tools.
Is it cheaper to use bags or ready-mix concrete?
Per cubic yard, ready-mix is cheaper: a yard takes 45 × 80 lb bags, about $321 at the median bag price, versus $110–$150 for delivered ready-mix plus a short-load fee. Bags make sense for small pours, post holes and places a truck can't reach.
What makes concrete cost more?
Higher strength mixes (HomeGuide lists $119 per yard for 2,000 psi and $147 for 5,000 psi), color (+$31 per yard for earth tones), stamped finishes (+$45–$108 per yard), Saturday delivery (+$8 per yard), short loads, delivery distance, pumping, site prep and thicker slabs. Labor is typically 40%–50% of an installed slab.
Sources and method
Installed-cost ranges are copied from each cost guide as published, with the guide named in every row; we don't average guides together or estimate missing numbers. Where a row says “our estimate”, it comes from this site's own calculator using shelf prices collected on September 17, 2026. Totals labeled “derived” multiply a published per-unit range by the size shown.
