Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information is collected when you use buildhowmuch.com (the "Site") and how it is used. The short version: the calculators run entirely in your browser, and we do not ask for or store your personal information.
Information you enter in calculators
Everything you type or select in a calculator — such as measurements, material choices and prices — is processed by JavaScript on your own device. It is not sent to us, not stored on our servers and not shared with anyone. When you close or reload the page, those entries are gone.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, the Site is delivered by a hosting and content delivery provider (currently Cloudflare). To deliver pages and protect against abuse, that provider processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This information is used for security and operations and is handled under the provider's own privacy policy.
Analytics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how the Site is used in aggregate — for example, which pages are visited, how visitors arrive (such as from a search engine), roughly which country and device type they use, and how long pages are viewed. We use these anonymous usage statistics only to improve the calculators and guides; we do not use them to identify you.
- Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as
_gaand_ga_*) to distinguish visits. These cookies do not contain your name or email address. - Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses; Google uses IP data only transiently to derive approximate location.
- We do not send the measurements, prices or other values you enter in calculators to Google Analytics.
- You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.

Advertising and cookies
The Site may display advertising to cover its costs. Ads are provided by Google, and possibly other third-party vendors, through Google AdSense. When ads are shown:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
Where required by law — for example, for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or certain U.S. states — a consent banner will let you choose whether advertising cookies are used before they are set. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to fix any problem you report, and we don't sell or share it. You can ask us to delete your correspondence at any time.
Children
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices and rights
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use the opt-out links above, and contact us about any information you have sent us by email. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access or delete personal information; since we don't hold calculator data, most requests will concern email correspondence.
Links to other websites
The Site links to manufacturers, retailers, building guides and other websites as sources. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Site changes, for example when advertising or analytics services change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
